Product Overview
An O-Ring, also known as a packing, or a toric joint, is a type of a gasket or a seal in the form of a ring with a circular cross section used to prevent leakage of fluids. O-rings are usually made up of Viton, Neoprene, Silicone, EPR, PTFE, PU or Nitrile Rubber (also known as BUNA-N). Which material is used depends on the application and requirements. Nitrile Rubber is most commonly used in O-Rings which is a general purpose copolymer of butadiene and acrylonitrile. This compound has a relatively high acrylo content, making it exceptionally resistant to petroleum base oils and hydrocarbon fuels over a temperature range of -30°F to +250°F. Nitrile has good mechanical properties when compared with other elastomers and high wear resistance. O-rings acts as an excellent leak barrier and are widely used in medical equipments. O-rings are seated in a groove and subjected to compression between two or more parts thereby creating a seal at the interface. This O-Ring is compatible to be used in the GE's Lunar Systems.
